Keira's Bio
Keira is a qualified BASI Pilates Instructor with her Comprehensive Teaching Training Certificate. Her teaching career has spanned over 15 years working professionally with dancers and movers. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Dance and has been teaching a variety of movement practices to dancers and non-dancers. Keira believes that a healthily moving body is the key to a happy life! Her personal training style emphasizes proper alignment, breathing techniques, strengthening and stretching exercises, and correct muscle recruitment. Most importantly, she aims to help clients create a sense of overall balance in the body. Keira has taught in a wide variety of settings including Equinox, Sport & Health Gyms, Toolbox Pilates in Dupont Circle, The University of Virginia, Montgomery College, Coppin State University, Joy of Motion, and at Georgetown University Hospital.
Keira's Personalized approach to teaching
Whether you are an individual or a group, Keira will create a specialized fitness plan to meet your goals. At the first meeting your needs and goals will be assessed through a brief discussion and a short questionnaire. From there a unique plan will be created for your body and your goals. Keira will also asses your posture and discuss with you any injury rehabilitative goals. As part of her services, Keira will also check in with you about nutrition and other areas in your life where the mind and body can come together in a more sustainable way. If you are a person who enjoys being outside when the weather is nice, additional cardiovascular training can occur outdoors as part of your session. Get some fresh air while you get the blood pumping!
